About the TCM Team
What is Leyton Town Centre Management
Leyton & Leytonstone Town Centre Manager
Greetings!
My name is Dawayne Williams and I have been the TCM for Leyton & Leytonstone since January 2006. Before taking up the post I had worked in Regeneration, Planning, Highway Maintenance and Urban Design in a variety of settings throughout East London.
I qualified as a chartered Town Planner in 1995 and gained am MA in Cities, Design & Regeneration at Metropolitan University in 2003.
My life experiences (both professional and personal) lead me to an area of work that enjoy and relish. Yes -it can be demanding as the range of issues that fall under my remit are varied. It can also be very rewarding as I play an important role in the long-term regeneration of the areas I manage.
My background has more emphasis on the built environment so my first approach is usually based on how to improve the public realm as this impacts on us all as soon as we leave the boundary of our homes. Good innovative design and choice of material can be the difference between an "up and coming" or "run-down" streetscape.
More recently additional attention has been focused on economic development, business and enterprise (partially influenced by my role in Leytonstone with the E11 BID Co (see www.e11bid.co.uk)
I have successfully implemented a number of schemes in Leyton and through developing key partnerships I have managed to influence "key players" to contribute towards jointly beneficial schemes.
Now is an extremely exciting time in the epoch of Leyton as the worlds biggest eventl be on our doorstep in under a 1000 days.
