Leyton Students Rule the Airwaves
Media Students at Leyton Sixth Form College completed a Radio Production course that ran over ten evenings with Pointblank and Streetlife FM.“It gave us an insight into how to produce a radio show, with all the technical aspects such as jingles, adverts and vox pops (interviews)” said student Lewis Painter. “We also had input from DJ Big Ted, who co - hosts the hip-hop show on Kiss 100 along with DJ Shortee Blitz.”
Student Malachi Beckford added “He gave us the experience of a live broadcast and information that will influence my choice in whether I am going to pursue a job in the radio industry. It isn’t as easy as people think; there is a lot of time and effort that is put into planning and producing a successful radio show."
Course leader, Alistair Wardill, was pleased that the students got a chance to meet a practising DJ. “It was a successful course, and I would recommend it to LSC students who are thinking about going into the radio industry, or are just interested in radio and audio editing in general.”
